Hi, I’m Alvin Soon. I’ve been a writer and photographer for over 10 years, with published stories from all over the world.
I’ve also been many things. A martial artist, meditator, dog lover, nature lover and more. But most of all, I’ve always been a curious writer.
My curiosity has led me to write about subjects like creativity, minimalism, photography, resilience and writing. Simply put, I write about a lifelong quest to discover wisdom, creativity, and strength.
To go from neglect to awareness, from unmade to made, from fear to courage is hard. But to create, ask, explore, to see, and be seen is worth it. Join me.
The Longer Story
I’ve been writing online for more than 10 years. The earliest posts on this site were first published on Life Coaches Blog1, which I founded and ran for three years from 2005 to 2008.
Afterward, I published on 21 Dragons, Starting Mind, and Medium, before finally consolidating all my photography and writing under Alvin Soon.
I’ve been a full-time writer and editor, as well as photography contributor, for more than 10 years under SPH Magazines.
I co-wrote the book HWM MegaGuide: Digital Photography 3.0 in 2012, and won the Media Publishers Association Singapore’s Online Photography of the Year award in 2015 for my travel photography feature, ‘In Search of Old Japan.’
I’ve also been a student of Buddhism, yoga and the martial arts; studying Wing Chun, Bujinkan Taijutsu and Tony Blauer’s SPEAR system.
